Performance study on a novel VBLAST modulation scheme under SUC detection
Published 2009-01-01“…A new modulation scheme was proposed to deal with the error propagation(EP) existing during the successive cancellation(SUC) detection in the VBLAST(vertical Bell labs layered space-time) system. In the scheme, the former demodulated signal was designed to use the modulation with better noise suppression performance(e.g.binary phase shift keying modulation),and the latter demodulated signal was suggested to employ the modulation with higher frequency ef-ficiency(e.g.multi-decimal modulations).Analysis and simulation results show that system reliability for SUC detection is improved without penalty to the system availability.…”

Research on the system error performance of coherent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system with M-distribution in satellite-to-ground laser communication
Published 2020-10-01“…In order to alleviate the influence of atmospheric turbulence on the performance of satellite-to-ground laser communication system, based on the M-distribution atmospheric channel model,a multi-carrier coherent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation system was proposed for uplink and downlink in the satellite-to-ground laser communication. The closed-form expression of bit error rate (BER) of coherent OFDM modulation system was derived. The relationship between the zenith angle, receiving aperture,signal-to-noise ratio (SNR),optimal beam divergence angle, and optimal transmission radius and the BER were studied under weak, and strong atmosphere turbulence, and compared with binary coherent differential phase shift keying (DPSK) modulation. Both the theory and the simulation results show that compared with coherent DPSK modulation, the bit error performance of the coherent OFDM modulation system in the satellite-to-ground laser communication system is better.…”

Research on BER performance of the OAM-SK FSO communication system with wavefront phase correction
Published 2022-05-01“…On the basis of Gerchberg-Saxton (GS) algorithm and angular-spectrum theory, an improved wavefront phase correction algorithm to the Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams was proposed for the orbital angular momentum-shift keying (OAM-SK) modulation-based free space optical (FSO) communication system under weak atmospheric turbulence. The light field distributions of the probe beam at transmitter and receiver were regarded as the input of the improved wavefront phase correction algorithm. And the correction phase mask was iteratively calculated to correct the distorted LG beams, thereby alleviating the inter-model crosstalk caused by atmospheric turbulence.Simulation results show that the improved wavefront phase correction algorithm is superior to the conditional GS algorithm. And with the increase of the refractive-index structure parameter, the bit error rate (BER) performance of the OAM-SK FSO communication system is significantly improved.…”

Wired and single sideband wireless service based on a single optical modulator
Published 2020-09-01“…In order to provide more flexible and convenient service for users in the hybrid transmission network,a novel system using a single optical modulator to provide wired and single side band (SSB) wireless signal was proposed.By combining the application of dual-polarization binary phase shift keying modulator (DP-BPSK),phase shifter and other devices, wired and SSB wireless signals were directly generated to suppress the walk-off effect caused by dispersion, and the effective transmission of 5 Gbit/s SSB wireless signal carried on 40 GHz millimeter wave and 10 Gbit/s wired signal over 65 km single-mode fiber (SMF) were successfully achieved. The experiments show that the application of polarization multiplexing technology and optical subcarrier multiplexing technology can make the signal have a greater improvement in transmission rate and performance, and play an important role in the future broadband communication network.…”

Cognitive Waveform Design for Radar-Communication Transceiver Networks
Published 2018-01-01“…The peak to average power ratio- (PAPR-) constrained optimal solution is achieved by applying the Kalman filtering-based strategy to design the set of ultra-wideband (UWB) transmission pulses and embed into them the information data with the M-ary position phase shift keying modulation technique. In addition to theoretical considerations, the simulation results show an improvement in target scattering coefficient (TSC) estimation and target detection probability as the number of iterations increases, while still transmitting data rates in the range of several Mbps with low bit error rates between CRC transceivers.…”

Cognitive waveform design for radar-communication transceiver networks
Published 2021-12-01“…The system architecture for cognitive radar-communication (CRC) transceiver was proposed.A cognitive waveforms design approach, which is suitable for simultaneously performing both data communication and target detection was presented. This approach aims at estimating target scattering coefficient (TSC) from the radar scene and facilitating high-data-rate communications. In order to minimize the mean square error (MSE) of the TSC, a convex cost function was established. The peak to average power ratio (PAPR)-constrained optimal solution was achieved by applying the Kalman filtering-based strategy to design the set of ultra-wideband (UWB) transmission pulses and embed into them the information data with the M-ary position phase shift keying modulation technique. In addition to theoretical considerations, the simulation results show an improvement in TSC estimation and target detection probability as the number of iterations increases, while still transmitting data rates in the range of several Mbit/s with low bit error rates between CRC transceivers.…”

Error performance of multi-branch dual-hop PF cooperative systems
Published 2016-09-01“…Design of multi-branch dual-hop phase-only forward(PF)cooperative systems with continuous phase frequency shift keying(CPFSK)modulation needs to determine the number of branch and modulation index. The usual solution of determining the above parameters is the time-consuming and inefficient computer simulation. An efficient solution of determining these parameters is theoretical analysis method.Semi-analytical expressions for the average bit error rate(ABER)of multi-branch dual-hop PF cooperative systems in conjunction with discrimination detection CPFSK over time-selective Rayleigh fading channels was presented. Two cases with and without antenna selection at the relays and maximum-ratio combining(MRC)receive diversity at the destination were considered. The simulation results show that numerical calculation results and simulation results for the ABERs of PF,discrimination detection,CPFSK cooperative systems are consistent and show that the above ABER theory results of CPFSK cooperative systems can be used to design PF cooperative systems.…”

Sparse adaptive constant blind equalization algorithm for sparse multipath channel
Published 2017-01-01“…In order to improve the convergence rate of the blind equalizer for sparse multipath channel,a novel blind equalization approach called l0-norm constraint proportionate normalized least mean square constant algorithm was proposed for M-order phase-shift keying (MPSK) signal.Based on the constant modulus characteristics of MPSK signal and the sparse property of equalizer,a new blind equalization cost function with the l0-norm penalty on the equalizer tap coefficients was firstly constructed. Then the update formula of the tap coefficients was derived according to the gradient descent algorithm. Moreover, the iteration step was updated by drawing upon the normalized proportionate factor. The algorithm not only assigned step sizes proportionate to the magnitude of the current individual tap weights, but also attracted the inactive taps to zero adaptively.Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing blind equalization algorithms for sparse channel in reducing ISI and improving convergence rate.…”
