Panoramic video coding based on spherical distortion with spatio-temporal dependency
Published 2023-10-01“…The planar coding distortion, which affects objective quality, and spherical distortion, which affects subjective quality, as well as existing independent rate-distortion optimization techniques that fail to consider the temporal propagation of spherical distortion and its impact on coding performance, result in coding performance degradation. To address these issues, a spatio-temporal dependent spherical distortion model was proposed for optimizing panoramic video coding.Firstly, a spatial mapping model was proposed to map spherical distortions to coding distortions, aiming to align subjective and objective quality assessments.Secondly, a temporal propagation model for spherical distortions was introduced to enhance the overall coding performance of all coding units in the propagation chain. Finally, the coding parameters were adjusted by computing the weights for spatial mapping and temporal propagation of spherical distortions.Experimental results demonstrate that, under low-delay encoding configurations, compared to the VTM14.0, a state-of-the-art video coding benchmark, the proposed algorithm achieves an average bitrate savings of 7.4% (up to 22.1%) and reduction in coding time of 9%.…”

HashTrie:a space-efficient multiple string matching algorithm
Published 2015-10-01“…The famous multiple string matching algorithm AC consumed huge memory when the string signatures were massive, thus unable to process high speed network traffic efficiently. To solve this problem,a space-efficient multiple string matching algorithm-HashTrie was proposed. This algorithm adopted recursive hash function to store the patterns in bit-vectors in place of the state transition table in order to reduce space consumption.Further more it made use of the rank operation for fast verification.Theoretic analysis shows that the space complexity of HashTrie is O(|P|),which is linear with the size of pattern set |P|and is independent of the alphabetsize σ.The space complexity is superior to the complexity O(|P|σlog|P|)of AC.Experiments on synthetic datasets and real-world datasets(such as Snort,ClamAV and URL)show that HashTrie saves up to 99.6% storage cost compared with AC,and in the meanwhile it runs at a matching speed that is about half of AC.HashTrie is a space-efficient multiple string matching algorithm that is appropriate to search large scale pattern strings with short lengths.…”

Comprehensive Evaluation of Production Water Footprint in Shandong Province
Published 2024-01-01“…As a significant economic and populous region, Shandong Province also grapples with water scarcity. The water footprint concept provides a fresh understanding of water resources, revealing the true utilization extent of the resources.A model and evaluation system for measuring the production water footprint is established to assess water resource utilization in the province from 2010 to 2021.The results indicate that the production water footprint in the studied region experiences fluctuations and presents an overall increasing trend during this period, with higher levels in the western and southern regions and lower ones in the eastern and northern areas. The blue, green, and grey water footprints all display a rising trend.Agriculture accounts for the largest proportion among all the sectors. From a comprehensive perspective, the economic benefits of the production water footprint steadily increase, but the per capita carrying capacity of the production water footprint is relatively poor, with a relatively large water resource pressure index.Generally, Shandong faces unsustainable water resources and considerable water pressure, which highlights the need for timely measures to adjust the industrial structure, enhance water-saving technologies, and improve pollution prevention and control to alleviate current water scarcity.…”

Application of edge-cloud collaborative intelligence technologies in power grids
Published 2021-03-01“…With the continuous development of the Internet of things on electricity (IoTE) and large-scale deployment of intelligent edge devices, an explosively increasing amount of data are being generated at the network edge. The efficient, fast and secure processing and analysis of the massive edge located data brings great challenges for the traditional cloud computing-based intelligence technologies.Instead, edge-cloud collaborative intelligence (ECCI) technologies can significantly outperform the cloud computing-based intelligence in terms of the network bandwidth saving, delay reduction and privacy protection, and therefore have shown a great potential in boosting the development of power grids. To investigate the application of ECCI in power grids, the concept and research progress of ECCI were firstly introduced. The characteristics and advantages of ECCI were summarized and its applicability in the power grids were discussed.Secondly, the key technologies of ECCI applications for power grids were discussed and the solutions based on ECCI technologies for two typical scenes were proposed respectively. Finally, a brief discussion of future work was given.…”

Analysis of the Water Resources Sustainable Utilization in Guangdong Province and Nine Cities in the Pearl River Delta Based on Ecological Footprint Theory
Published 2022-01-01“…This paper focuses on the coordinated development between water resources utilization and the economy in Guangdong Province.Utilizing the water ecological footprint model,it calculates the per capita water ecological footprint, ecological carrying capacity, and ecological surplus (deficit) of Guangdong Province and nine cities in the Pearl River Delta in the past 10 years in terms of production, life, and ecological water use.The results show that from 2011 to 2020,the water ecological footprint per capita in these areas has shown a downward trend, and water utilization efficiency has increased year by year.In the past 10 years, the per capita water resources carrying capacity is greater than the ecological footprint, and water resources are in a sustainable state. However, the ecological surplus has shown a slow downward trend. As the production water accounts for a large proportion of total water use,a considerable improvement in agricultural water saving can be achieved in the province. In the process of economic development,it is still necessary to strengthen the management of water resources to further improve the water use efficiency and promote the sustainable use of water resources in the province.…”
