Green 5G ultra-dense wireless heterogeneous networks:guidelines,techniques,and challenges
Published 2017-06-01“…Ultra-dense wireless heterogeneous network (Ud-HetNet) has been recognized as one of the most promising 5G network-organization techniques to significantly improve the wireless capacity and thus solve the 1 000× data challenge faced by cellular networks.However,counter to the expected 5G vision,although benefiting from the spectrum efficiency (SE) improvement,ultra-dense network deployment significantly increases system energy consumption and thus decreases network energy efficiency (EE).The key theories and techniques for energy-efficiently deploying Ud-HetNet were investigated from two aspects of macroscopic network matching and microscopic resource aggregation by exploiting their overall network management capabilities and network diversity effects.Specifically,the overall design guidelines for green evolution were introduced firstly,and then three techniques,namely load-aware base station on/off switching,proactive caching,and interference-aware cross-network resource allocation,were proposed to improve the network EE.Open issues and challenges that need to be further explored were also discussed.…”

5G mobile/multi-access edge computing integrated architecture and deployment strategy
Published 2018-04-01“…Mobile/multi-access edge computing (MEC) technology migrates computing storage capabilities and service service capabilities to the edge of the network,enabling applications,services and content to be localized,close-range and distributed.Therefore,to a certain extent,the business requirements of 5G enhanced mobile broadband,low latency and high reliability and large-scale machine communication terminal connection are solved.At the same time,the MEC fully exploits mobile network data and information to implement the awareness and analysis of context information of the mobile network and open it to third-party service applications.This effectively enhances the level of intelligence in mobile networks and promotes the deep integration of networks and services.Therefore,the value and significance of the MEC was firstly analyzed according to the typical 5G service scenario.Secondly,based on the research progress of ETSI and 3GPP,a MEC fusion architecture oriented to 5G was proposed,and the overall deployment strategy of MEC was discussed and analyzed.Furthermore,the possible problems and challenges in the future application of MEC technology in 5G networks were discussed to provide reference for subsequent research and development.…”

Social-aware caching and forwarding for video streaming in information-centric 5G VANET
Published 2019-12-01“…The arrival of 5G-enabled communication technology has laid the foundation for providing high-quality video stream services in vehicular Ad Hoc network (VANET).However,current VANET still distribute video content over IP networks which design for host communication instead of content distribution.The mismatch between network function and design goals brings huge challenges for providing high quality video service.Based on the above questions,a social-aware caching and forwarding was proposed to support efficient video streaming services and the time complexity of the algorithm was O(m<sup>2</sup>).Firstly,a virtual community was constructed by analyzing the user's behaviors.Then,a fast forwarding scheme was introduced to ensure that users could discover the requested videos nearby.Finally,a community-based caching policy was proposed to optimize the in-community caching distributions.Simulation results show how the proposed strategy achieves better performance than other state-of-art solutions in terms of caching hit ratio,searching delay and control overhead.…”
