Association of body mass index combined with triglyceride-glucose index in cardiovascular disease risk: a prospective cohort study
Published 2025-05-01“…After adjusting for confounding factors such as sex, age, smoking, drinking, physical activity, systolic blood pressure, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, uric acid, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, antihypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, and lipid-lowering drugs, Cox regression analysis showed that the risk of CVD events was 52% higher in the High-BMI/High-TyG group (HR: 1.52; 95% CI 1.42–1.64) compared to the Low-BMI/Low-TyG group. …”

Association between single nucleotide polymorphisms in EPAS1 and PPARA genes and high altitude polycythemia in Chinese Tibetan population
Published 2025-03-01“…Methods We included 78 HAPC patients and 84 healthy controls, and genotyped the EPAS1 gene SNP loci (rs6735530, rs6756667, rs7583392, and rs12467821) and PPARA rs6520015 by using TaqMan polymerase chain reaction. Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between these SNPs and HAPC; interactions between SNPs were also predicted by multifactorial dimensionality reduction (MDR) analysis.ResultsWe found that the PPARA rs6520015 polymorphism was not associated with the risk of HAPC in the Chinese Tibetan population; EPAS1 rs6735530, rs6756667, rs7583392, and rs12467821 increased the risk of HAPC in some models. …”

Clinical Predictors of Pain Relief with 60-Day Peripheral Nerve Stimulation: A Multicenter Observational Study
Published 2025-08-01“…This study examined patient characteristics that influence response (early and delayed) or nonresponse to 60-day PNS treatment.Patients from multiple health systems completed surveys before treatment to assess pain levels, physical activity, disability, and psychological factors. Our research team analyzed medical records to identify predictors of successful response and nonresponse to a 60-day PNS treatment. The results showed that:Early responders (patients who benefited quickly) had higher physical activity levels, greater confidence in managing pain (pain self-efficacy), and lower pain-related distress (catastrophizing).Delayed responders (patients who improved gradually) had longer histories of chronic pain and more severe baseline pain disability.Non-responders (patients who did not experience significant pain relief) tended to exhibit higher psychological distress, opioid dependence, and morbid obesity. These findings suggest that baseline physical activity, psychological coping, and behavioral factors could help to identify ideal candidates for PNS therapy. …”
