“Text of Culture” as a Category of Cultural Philosophy: from Semiotic Theory to Research Practice by E. N. Shatova

    Published 2023-11-01
“…Its necessary categorization opens perspectives for the development of procedures of semiotic analysis of artifact as the “text of culture”, and for the interpretation of its semiosis, taking into account the mechanisms of functioning of immanent structures. The most important direction of cultural-philosophical analysis of the cultural text is its semiosis, which is treated as the sign functioning of the artifact-text within the boundaries of an open system that is culture as “one”.Conclusion. …”

Linguistic-Syllabic Cognitive Mapping of Sound in Japanese Culture, Interpreted through Japanese Gagaku Music by Zhoushu Ziporyn

    Published 2022-06-01
“…I will then relate this to gagaku’s musical principles and systems of sonic mapping found in Japan more generally, and suggest reasons why the five-line staff musical notation system did not develop in medieval Japan as it did in Europe, despite both musics having, on the surface, similar musical structures and organizations. Further, in conjunction with the analytics of play, the workings of an audiocentric framework that I explore throughout the paper also have philosophical ramifications that blur the line between the literal and the metaphorical, which in turn have implications for the semiotics of perception and environment and, by extension, questions in zoomusicology and comparative cognition.…”

CEREBRAL NEURODYNAMICS IN PATIENTS WITH STROKE AND UPPER LIMB INJURIES DURING REHABILITATION by B. I. Vakhitov, I. S. Raginov, I. Kh. Vakhitov

    Published 2020-11-01
“…Rehabilitation of such patients should include dynamic electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring, since the information about the functional state of cerebral structures is necessary for organizing an effective rehabilitation program, predicting and assessing treatment outcomes. We have examined 26 patients with cerebral stroke (14 men and 12 women aged 42–65 years) in the early stages with the leading neurological syndrome manifesting as spastic hemiparesis and 27 patients with extension fractures of the distal radial physis (after manual reposition and plaster splint removal) at different stages of their rehabilitation with a week interval. We found that changes in brain electric activity (from similar leads of the contralateral hemisphere) were more significant in patients with acute stroke, which can be associated with specific changes in the cerebral rhythms after stroke, since deep location of the alteration focus results in more diffused EEG symptoms due to conducting paths. …”
