Summary:The aim of the present work was to recuperate Edovard Claparède’s contribuition to the understanding of the importance of the game in the teaching-learning relationship. It consisted of na analysis of Claparède’s book "The Functional Education", in which the methodological implication of the game in the child’s formation where stressed. When discussing the learning process relatioship between the student and the teacher, Claparéde advocates that education should be processed from the point of view of the child and not of the educator.
