Summary:In this paper,in order to analyze the effects of hydrometeorological changes,river improvement,and artificial sand mining on river regime changes in the main stream of the Huaihe River,the complex and branching Liufangdi river section was studied. In addition,this paper collected the measured flow rate and sediment data from 1951 to 2020 and the measured sectional data in different years including 1971,1979,1992,2005,2012,2019,and 2020 and used MIKE 11 numerical models and other methods to study and quantify the river regime changes in the Liufangdi river section of the main stream of the Huaihe River.According to the analysis,it was found that the river sediment inflow,river thalweg,diversion ratio of the branching river section,and river section all change significantly.The river sediment inflow has decreased by 80%~90% since the 1950s,and the river thalweg has sharply dropped.The main branch of the river section strongly evolves to the south branch,and the river section expands obviously,with the total amount of river erosion reaching 69.08 million m<sup>3</sup> from 1971 to 2020.
