Description
Summary:This study was carried out on metadata from OrthoCorpus, which gathers all articles (1997-2018) from the French speech and language therapy (SLT) journal Rééducation orthophonique. The goal is to facilitate access to scientific literature in the SLT domain, and to make it more visible. This analysis offers insight into the evolution of SLT literature, as well as how SLT practice has been documented over the past 20 years. The metadata focus on authors and themes, at a general level but also from a diachronic perspective. We also compare our case with the British journal International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders. Results show a progressive widening of the topics towards communication and ageing, linked to the evolution of scientific knowledge, even though they still mostly address the issues of oral language and children. We also found an increase in the participation of speech therapists in publishing research teams. This study contributes to valorising the professional identity of SLT practitioners in France.
