Description
Summary:This study was to evaluate the effects of Tunip mosaic virus (TuMV) infection on the photosynthetic characteristics of Chinese cabbage (Brassica chinensis L. cv. Suzhou) and mustard (B. juncea L. cv. Wenzhou). As the result of infection, the chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs) and intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci) of leaves decreased in comparison with that of the healthy plants. The electron transport activities, especially the photosystem Ⅱ (PS Ⅱ) section, were depressed. On the tenth day after TuMV inoculation, Fv/Fo and Fv/Fm values of Chinese cabbage showed considerable decline, as compared with the healthy plants. Thus TuMV infection caused injury to the hosts and PS Ⅱ was injured more severely than PS Ⅰ.
