A qualitative survey by semi-structured interviews with subjects offering or demanding companionship or sexual services via the Internet was conducted in order to understand the the meaning attributed to these paid relations by escorts and clients. Three conceptions of escorting emerge from the analysis of clients and escorts’ discourse: escorting represented as a service relationship, escorting represented as a form of domination, and escorting represented as a particular type of short-term affective and sexual relationship. |
