| description | Objective:To explore the application of short-stretch bandage treatment in upper limb lymphedema after breast cancer surgery.Methods:A case of senior patient with breast cancer post-operative upper limb lymphedema was recruited. Intensive complete decongestive therapy (CDT) was applied according to the swelling degree of the patient. CDT included short-stretch bandage, which was considered as the foundation of the whole treatment, and some assistant treatment such as manual lymphatic drainage, skin care and exercise. Assessment was performed before and after a week of treatment.Results:After the treatment, the volume of the swelling limb was significantly reduced, and the heaviness and discomfort of the limbs were significantly relieved. Ameliorating of symptoms enhanced the self-confidence of the patient's appearance and polished up the patient's psychological status.Conclusion:Intensive CDT based on short-stretch bandage treatment can significantly reduce limb swelling and improve the psychological state of the patients with lymphedema. |
