| Summary: | The article analyzes problem of construction of the fortress bridges in Kingdom of Poland, when it was occupied by Russians in the period after the fall of November Uprising in 1831. By presenting of some diverse solutions adopted in two different Russian strongholds localized within the Polish territory, it was possible to show at the same time a broad spectrum of this phenomenon, focusing both on construction efforts made by Russian military occupation authorities as well as by the local Polish civilian administration. The obtained data should allow us to argue for construction in the mentioned period of fortress bridges with use of both already proven and established methods and of new solutions. In the same time one might add thesis concernig (especially visible among highest ranks staff of Russian army) significant uncertainty about the very nature and scope of possible availability of fortress bridges. |
