| description | This study analyzes tourism policies in the context of the Covid-19 that had an impact in the Tourism Characteristic Activities (ACTs) (ACTs) in the cities of Belém and Santarém (Pará). Characterized as a qualitative-quantitative research and supported by bibliographic and documentary sources, a survey was carried out about the main tourism policies and their contributions to the resumption of employment in these cities; in addition to data collected from the federal government website on the Cadastro Geral de Empregados e Desempregados (CAGED), of the Ministry of Economy, all of them analyzed within the period from 2018 to 2022. It was also made a semi-structured interviews recorded by Google Meet with the representatives of the public authorities linked to tourism planning in Belém/Santarém and with representatives of organized civil society entities. The main sectors impacted were: lodging facilities; restaurants and the ones like; and, car rental without a driver. In 2020, the most critical year of the pandemic, job cuts in tourism intensified in both cities, as economic growth in tourism was expected to be interrupted by Covid-19. The interviewed ones and the collected data point together to 2020 as one of the worst years for tourism in Pará and highlight that public policies to address the employment crisis, especially at the federal level, have contributed to minimizing the effects of the pandemic on ACT workers. |
