Description
Summary:After the Second World War, in a context of massive reconstruction, tremendous development of urbanisation and the evolution of public services, the building of administrative centres occupied a major place in the French architectural and town-planning landscape of this period of economic prosperity. The archives of architectural and town-planning administrations held by the National Archives (Pierrefitte) allow us to document this page of architectural history. If we can observe unchanging elements in the way the projects are conducted, we also notice a significant diversity in the approaches, illustrating ambitions that might be political, urbanistic or architectural. These approaches can sometimes be antagonistic because of the diversity of the actors involved or the local contexts.
