This paper reviews the use of electronic mail, electronic dis­cussion lists and telnet so as to provide reference services. Issues such as bibliograph­ic control of networked information, ease of use of Internet tools, costs, personnel and education are also briefly discussed. Librarians and library school students have to be trained in order to be able to take advantage of the Internet.
