description This paper aims to present the right to submit a petition as an option of direct parent participation in the process of developing educational policy. The issues addressed are in line with reconstruction of the knowledge on the possibilities of involving citizens in developing educational policy as well as show one of the forms of activities addressing the idea of participation (the right to petition). A critical analysis of the discourse provides the scientific perspective used to collect and interpret the empirical material. The analysis has covered petitions submitted by parents to the Ministry of National Education (MEN) in 2020. The study results consistently show that parent participation in the education in Poland is still of occasional and postulatory nature.
