| Summary: | Robotic nurses and artificial intelligence-based technologies have brought about a significant transformation in nursing practices. This review explores the historical development of robotic nurses, their areas of use, the advantages they offer, and the ethical concerns they raise. Robotic nurses have been developed to reduce nurses' workload, improve the quality of patient care, and minimize the risk of infectious diseases. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, they played a vital role in tasks such as patient monitoring, medication administration, disinfection, and remote care. Although AI-supported systems contribute to clinical decision-making processes by analyzing patient data, they still exhibit limitations in terms of ethical reasoning, compassion, and empathy—qualities unique to human caregivers. Moreover, cultural differences, high implementation costs, insufficient legal regulations, and technological infrastructure deficiencies continue to hinder their widespread adoption. In this context, robotic nurses should be considered as supportive tools rather than replacements for human-centered care in nursing services. |
