description In response to a request by the French Embassy in La Paz, two consultancy services were commissioned in Bolivia in 1995 and 1996 in order to set up a database for the National centre of registration for the movable heritage. This had become necessary in order to put a stop to the numbers of works of art leaving the country, many of which had been stolen from rural churches. No fewer than 11 000 notices have been completed by investigators. This programme was supported by the American states organisation as early as the late 1970s, and then by Unesco in the 1980s.
