Summary:Based on one of Walter Benjamin’s childhood memories, this article considers the idea of having "a corner" of one's own—a space or piece of furniture—integral to one’s personality, and favorable to thinking and imagining. From the desk to Bruno Munari's cabin, this "piece of furniture" could be a child’s second skin, offering both protection and inspiration, a kid-sized cabin where an adventurous spirit can take up lodgings, a chrysalis to wrap up in, in order to fly away.
