Senghor’s “Épitaphe” is a poem in which he views his own death and addresses his friends and his Signare. The particularity of the text is that it is not the only one he wrote about this topic. There is at least another text intitled “Quand je serai mort”
of which it is hard to know whether it was composed before or after the one intitled “Épitaphe”. This study is essentially about the latter that we think to be the first written. On the one hand
the genetic analyze we propose shows the complexity of Senghor’s poetical writing
which appears to be a perpetual work of formulation and reformulation
of reorganization of the text
