description Abstract Dyadic coping refers to the set of strategies couples use to manage stress. The most widely recognized instrument for measuring it is the Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI). This study aimed to adapt the DCI for a Brazilian sample and evaluate its validity and reliability. Participants included heterosexual individuals of both genders who had been living with their romantic partners in the state of Rio de Janeiro for at least one year. The adaptation process involved back-translation and an assessment using the Content Validity Coefficient. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to test theoretical models, revealing structures similar to those identified in several prior studies. Evidence of convergent and discriminant validity was partially confirmed for the instrument’s factors, with internal consistency values ranging from acceptable to adequate. Despite some limitations, the Brazilian version of the DCI demonstrated reasonable psychometric properties.
