description The topic under discussion in this article refers to açaí in the context of the riverside territory and territoriality in the Brazilian Amazon. The big question, which is at the center of the investigation, is to unveil how the açaí acts as an element in the formation of the riverside territory and territoriality? Faced with this questioning, we start from the hypothetical principle that around the dynamics of açaí, sociocultural and economic bonds are created and characterize and identify the riverside territory and territoriality, thus, açaí is configured as an important element of empowerment. The research aimed to understand how açaí presents itself as a reference in the riverside territory and, through the appropriation of fruit, how territorialities are created. The investigation was carried out in 2019, in the riverside community of Ipanema Island, located in the municipality of Afuá/PA. The analyzes were proceeded by the qualitative approach, the data were collected during the field work through photographic records, observations described in the field diary and recorded interviews/narratives. Ten riverside families participated in the investigation process. The theoretical-methodological bases that underpinned the reflections, analyzes and interpretations were based on authors who discuss the issue of territory and territoriality and socio-cultural aspects of açaí in Amazonian territories. Throughout the work it was found that the dynamics of açaí in riverside communities create territorial and territoriality ties, and thus, establish power over the territory, strengthened both by the material and immaterial elements produced and reproduced daily.
