Description
Summary:The stress level variation of asphalt concrete core walls is not only affected by its material characteristics but also constrained by adjacent transition material characteristics. Changing transition material characteristics will have a significant impact on the hydraulic fracturing of core walls. To explore the relationship between changes in transition material characteristics and core wall cracking, the Duncan-Chang E-B model was used to perform finite element calculations on the Miaotang core wall rock-filldam. A crack resistance safety factor Kn was proposed to characterize the risk of hydraulic fracturing in the core wall. Based on this, the orthogonal experimental method was used to compare the correlation between various parameters of the transition material E-B model and core wall cracking. The conclusion was drawn that the greater the stiffness of the transition material, the greater the possibility of hydraulic fracturing in the core wall. In the selection of transition materials, priority should be given to high sensitivity factors Rf, n, φ0 and K. On the premise of meeting the design and construction specifications of asphalt concrete core wall dams, selecting transition materials with larger Rf and smaller K and φ0 is beneficial for improving the crack resistance performance of asphalt concrete core wall dams.
