Summary:The experience of being close to a hospitalized child led us to accomplish this study which aims to report the nursing care with a type 1 Diabetes mellitus child. The nursing care assessment was carried out through the use of the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) system. The following nursing diagnosis was identified: Deficit of knowledge, Low situational self-esteem, altered familiar patterns, and fear. The interventions were based on the necessity of demystifying the type 1 DM through educational and ludic activities, besides the active participation and care of the family. We got go the conclusion that interventions accomplished this way, strengthen the chances of success during therapeutic treatments with children besides being a differential as we look after them.
