Description
Summary:Nowadays, the internet is an integral part ofour social life. With the advances in software and electronics, there has beena tremendous increase in the number of addressable devices, and this increaseis continuing at an accelerated pace. Internet of Things (IoT) is a newphenomenon that everyday physical objects can be addressed and connected to theinternet so that IoT devices are able to sense the physical environment, and tocollect, analyze and process the sensed data. Although the beneficial advancesof IoT, there is not a common architectural structure in the literature. Inthis study, we have reviewed the overview of IoT, its usage areas, recentstudies in the literature proposing standard IoT architectures. Also, a new layeredarchitectural model has been proposed in order to standardize IoT paradigm. Themain difference distinguishing the proposed architectural model from the otherproposed architectures is the presence of transformation and decisionsublayers. In these sublayers, it is aimed to reduce data traffic, to increasesystem / data reliability and to protect system integrity.
