Description
Summary:Transformation and bioavailability of specifically sorbed phosphorous were studied by inculating P-efficient microorganisms (PEM) in a suspension culture with goethite-P complex as the sole phosphorous source. The utilizing efficiency (UE) and transformating efficiency of the sorbed phosphorous by PEM were 57.5% and 61.7%, respectively, which were significantly higher than the average soil microorganisms. The higher ability in utilizing specifically sorbed phospherous probably due to the exudation of some low molecular weight organic acids, which result in ligand exchange and competitive adsorption with specifically sorbed phosphorous.
