| Summary: | The celebration of Latin America Independence bicentenary represents the beginning of a complex debate between historians. As it usually happens with Remembrance Days, theoretical remarks will follow this event. Furthermore, diverse responses might originate from the discussion on the role of history in public and private events related to this kind of commemorations. It is a favourable circumstance to consolidate the renewal that historiography has been undergoing during the last few decades. These new ideas lead to revise the generally accepted interpretation on the meaning of Independence. |
