Summary:Single air-gap structure has been commonly used in resonant inductor for high power LLC resonant converter, which maycause some problems such as local overheating, high temperature rise, etc.. Aiming at these problems, a resonant inductor with three-airgap magnetic structure was presented. Based on the finite element theory and Ansys, three-dimensional (3D) mathematic models of single air-gap resonant inductor and three-air-gap resonant inductor were respectively built and the magnetic-thermal coupling simulations were completed to obtain the vector curves of electromagnetic field and thermal field. Besides, compared with the simulation results of single air-gap and three-air-gap resonant inductor, it shows that three-air-gap resonant inductor has the advantages of reducing temperature rise, preventing local overheating and decreasing loss. Through many simulations, the optimal curves of three-air-gap location were given, which had important significance to the optimization design of resonant inductor.
