Summary:This paper aims to highlight through a comparative analysis the main trends and challenges for the Member States under the new Common Agricultural Policy financial framework. Our research will base its assumptions on the most recent statistics published by the Member States and also on the DG Agriculture& Rural Development reports. Our article will also assess, through a SWOT analysis, the opportunities and the weaknesses for the financial support granted to the Member States under the new regulations ofthe Common Agricultural Policy. In the final part of our paper we will present some conclusions related to the future of Common Agricultural Policy as a tool for addressing some financial gaps in the national rural development strategies of the Member States
