Description
Summary:The article presents the methodology and the results of a socio-sanitary taxonomy of French territories. This taxonomy is used to analyze primary health care in France and the effectiveness of measures to attract and retain general practitioners in underserved areas. We identify in the literature the relevant dimensions and indicators to address these issues. We made a principal component analysis (PCA) of the 32 selected indicators and then an agglomerative hierarchical clustering (AHC).We obtain 6 types of living territories with a complex spatial distribution. For instance, it is very contiguous alongside the coast or the inland countryside. On the other hand, regional entities present a more diverse trait with all type of living territories and a geographic distribution showing central and peripheral oppositions.
