Description
Summary:The theatre of Josep Palau i Fabre is not only the works that are published in the two volumes of complete works. As is shown in my book Josep Palau i Fabre. Alquímia i revolta (1935-1958) there are still many unpublished works. Among these, there are some texts written in French between 1948 and 1950, still unpublished, except for a play Le dialogue ou la mort du théâtre, written in 1948 and published by the author in a non-venal edition in Paris the 1950. This was a typical practice of the author when he thought he had made a significant text. In this case, this work and the other written in French have an important characteristic: they are clearly precursors of the movement that has been described as a theatre of the absurd. It also detects a clear influence of Pirandello. However, from 1951 onwards Palau’s theatre undertakes another direction.
