description Objective To implement comprehensive intervention of transtheoretical model (TTM) for breast cancer patients with chemotherapy, and explore its impact on negative emotions and disease uncertainty. Methods Eighty-seven breast cancer patients treated with postoperative chemotherapy in Nantong Tumor Hospital and The Second People’s Hospital of Nantong were retrospectively selected between January 2021 and January 2024. Based on the treatment methods, the patients were split into two groups: an observation group (43 cases, thorough TTM therapies based on the control group) and a control group consisting of 44 cases that underwent traditional interventions. The two groups’ scores for postoperative complications, self-efficacy, disease uncertainty, depressive mood, and quality of life were compared before and after the intervention. Results After intervention, score of Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and disease uncertainty score in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of self-efficacy scale and quality of life were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between observation group and control group (4.65% vs 9.09%, χ2=0.155, P=0.694). Conclusion The application of TTM comprehensive intervention in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy can significantly improve their anxiety and depression, strengthen their self-management efficacy, reduce the uncertainty of disease, and improve their quality of life.
