Summary: | This article studies the Basque stereotype through the tourist guides published in France in the 19th century, specifically those that dealt with the "Côte basque" and suggested a cross-border itinerary. It compares the idealized image about the Basques that these guides spread with that contained the guides published in Spain on similar dates. It is a question of putting into value a documentary source that has hardly been considered for the study of stereotypes and the construction of collective identities. |
