Description
Summary:Observing, apprehending and learning about geographic space are not banal intellectual tasks. This is the starting point for our paper instigated by the experience of crossing the border between Amapá and French Guiana. Organized as a political geography exploratory expedition, the trip provided estrangement and enchantment. The text has two main goals: reflecting about the variations of contact with the terrain (field work, excursion and expedition) and geographic knowledge about places in the 21st century, and to explain the travel experience from the city of Oiapoque in Amapá to Cayenne, a frontier of particular characteristics. Taking as a starting point that this is not a common border, the question proposed is: what does the experience of crossing it reveal to us about the scales of political geography and geopolitics perceived and practiced on each of its sides
