Summary:This study focuses on the expression of elements that belong to the sphere of respect in Cameroon and Spain, and more specifically on greetings at the Universities of Douala and Lleida. Therefore, based on some contexts of communicative exchanges, the aim is to analyse how students in both universities usually initiate and close their conversations. One of the objectives we intend to achieve is to bring together people from different cultural backgrounds, and who are geographically distant from one another, in order to perceive the specificities of each cultural universe and to achieve results that may allow us to avoid possible cognitive and (inter)cultural conflicts and misunderstandings in the interaction between Cameroonian and Spanish students. Another objective is to make a census of linguistic strategies of formal and informal greetings used by cultural subjects in contexts of social interaction. On the one hand, we consider that knowledge of these tools could be useful both for Cameroonian students who want to go to Spain and vice versa. On the other hand, this information could be a starting point for Cameroonian teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language when working comparatively on good manners in Spain and Cameroon. In order to carry out this research, a mixed approach was used, whereby information was collected through a questionnaire, then processed and linked quantitative and qualitative data in a single study, in order to validate the hypotheses of this study.
