Description
Summary:The text deals with the discussion on the use of spatial concepts and forms in Brazilian cities and is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the origins of the concept of segregation, derived from other spatial and temporal contexts; the general application of this concept and its specific application in Brazilian cities, such as Salvador. In the second part, we discuss various spatial processes (and forms) that are confused with the concept of segregation, both in common sense and in the Academy. The text concludes with a critique of the automatic application of the concept of segregation to Brazilian cities, especially Salvador, and the indication of other processes that occur in these cities.
