Description
Summary:The Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Fun-ction-Adult (BRIEF-A) is one of the most interna-tionally used self-report inventories that assesses the perception of executive functions in adults, in healthy and clinical samples. Previous studies have reported factorial heterogeneity in the internal structure of the inventory, but few have analyzed the factorial structure at item level. The objective of the study was to analyze the validity of the fac-torial structure at item level and the psychometric properties of the BRIEF-A in 352 Mexican college students. The factorial structure at item level was analyzed in an adapted Mexican version of the BRIEF-A through confirmatory and exploratory factorial analyses (CFA & EFA) where the original factorial structure of 9-factor could not be confir-med. A short version of the BRIEF-A with 47 items organized into 6 factors is proposed with adequate fit indexes (CFI= 0.886, TLI= 0.879, RMSEA= 0.056 and SRMR= 0.054), good internal consistency indexes (ω=0.77-0.95) and an excellent value for the total scale (ω=0.97). The use of this short version of the BRIEF-A is suggested in sam-ples with similar characteristics.
