description Today, tourism is an economic and social phenomenon that has seized many territories and societies. The World Tourism Organization reported in 2018 that 10% of the Gross Domestic Product and 1 in 10 jobs were related to this phenomenon. Alternative tourism has developed in parallel with globalization and the expansion of the tourism phenomenon as the qualitative shift made in recent years and is commonly presented as a solution to fight poverty and protect natural resources. But the commercialization, dissemination and promotion of these initiatives, among others, tend to be weak and result in initiatives not meeting the objectives set. Beyond these valid claims on a worldwide scale, it is clear that tourism is today not only a specter but even more a pretext to address themes present on the territory studied or worked: migration, the questions of Governance is just one of many examples. Based on my own professional trajectory, I will present some development projects in which I participated as well as related skills. PhD in Geography, holder of the Degree in Engineering of Development Projects in 2007, after having practiced until 2011 in Honduras and Mexico in Non-Governmental and Governmental Organizations, I was recruited at the Faculty of Anthropological Sciences of the Autonomous University of Yucatán within the License in Tourism.
