Description
Summary:This paper focuses on the heath-related journeys of patients from the three islands of the Union of the Comoros to the French departments of Mayotte and La Réunion. Based on a collective ethnographic study, it explores experiences of both legal and illegal displacement, from the viewpoint of patients and the professionals looking after them, and questions the legitimacy of access to care. On the one hand, it seeks to provide a better understanding of the logics of socially contrasted care pathways in these territories, where social inequalities in health are still widening, and on the other, to question (the effects of) aid for cooperation.
