It reveals the spread and evolution of the concept of the Witches’ Sabbath within the Order of Cistercians. The trial also reflects Burgundy's political changes in the late 1470s and highlights the efforts of Jean de Cirey, head of the Order of the White Monks (1476-1503), to assert his authority and sovereignty. |
