description This article focuses on trans (MtF) Latin American population. The field survey was conducted mainly in France and Spain. The objectives of the study are (1) to understand the gender norms of their milieu and the relation with their identity as trans (2) to examine their migratory experiences and their very strong leaning towards prostitution. Concerning identity changes, the research shows the country of origin great influence as expressed in social norms relating to gender (heteronormativity, homophobia, sanction of deviant masculinities). This class / gender overlap places people in the marginal and stigmatized social position of prostitution. The paper illustrates important aspects of this environment: it shows how festive imagination rubs shoulders with the ordinary of violence. The migratory experience, highly valued in the country of origin, is examined. The type of links forged with the family, and difficulties linked to solitude and the linguistic isolation are discussed.
