description In this article the speech of the memory on the Spanish exile of 1939 in Mexico is studied by means of the work entitled Memorias del exilio. La vida de los primeros refugiados españoles en México (2007), [Memories of the Exile. The life of the first Spanish refugees in Mexico] by Tere Medina-Navascués. The speech of these memories is presented, on the one hand, under the double modality of narration of experience; on the other hand, under the narration of fictionalized facts. The first of them allows her author the catharsis of the most painful memories on the war and exile, at the same time the exploration of several versions of herself. The second one recreates the historic and social environment, but many times not pleasing one, in which the Spanish exiles evolved.
