| Summary: | Following a recently found manuscript, transcription of notes jotted down by a pupil during the classes of rhetoric of the Aragon-born humanist Juan Lorenzo Palmireno in 1577, in the Studi General of Valencia, and study of sources favored by the master. We are in the presence of one of the first testimonies of the use of emblems in Renaissance pedagogy. Their integration in the classes of rhetoric recalls « deleitar enseñando », and also the encyclopaedic aim of education because of the varied knowledge wich was thus made available. |
