description With the popularity of electric vehicles and their technical development, efficiency improvement of electric vehicle drive system is of great significance for improving battery life and saving energy. Faced on the fact that the existing small and medium-sized electric vehicles mostly adopt interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive system, this paper proposes an engineering efficiency optimization method of IPMSM drive system. Based on IPMSM direct torque control, iron loss and copper loss models of IPMSM and equivalent loss model of controller are obtained by theoretical analysis. Additionally, on the basis of motor parameter calibration and test, four optimization strategies to improve system efficiency are proposed for four different working conditions. The results of bench test and vehicle application show that the overall efficiency of the drive system is improved by 1 to 2 percentage, and these optimization strategies can improve system efficiency when the motor runs at different speeds, which is suitable for electric vehicles and other applications.
