Description
Summary:In the first place Jacques Gilard’s figure is broached from the human and professional point of view, emphasizing how important his research labour was for Colombia and specially for the Caribbean region. The article shows how he played a leading part in the understanding and the diffusion of Colombian writers’ works, especially those of Garcia Márquez and the Grupo de Barranquilla, in which he includes himself. His work method, based upon the creation of a very detailed chronology, takes into consideration all sorts of documents, mainly the press which, together with his great knowledge of history and historiography enabled this researcher to establish the country’s radiography.
