Description
Summary:Three episodes, all similar to each other, of play behaviour by the Hooded crow were observed in September and October 2016 in Piedmont (NW Italy). The game played by the Hooded crow consisted of carrying a walnut in the air with its beak at a height of about 15-20 meters, letting it fall and catching it before it touched the ground, through a fast, sinuous flight that also included some rotations around the axis of its body. At the moment of the recovery of the walnut, the birds were with the dorsal part facing the ground, and the ventral part facing upwards. [Short communication in Italian]
