| Summary: | Flat solar collectors remain a widely used and cost-effective technology for harvesting solar thermal energy, especially in low to medium temperature applications. However, their long-term efficiency is negatively affected by two persistent problems: internal condensation and dust accumulation. This paper proposes an innovative solution that eliminates both moisture and dust-related losses without compromising structural integrity. The core of the proposed method is the integration of a compensation cylinder filled with dry nitrogen and equipped with a free-moving piston that passively regulates pressure fluctuations. This approach allows the collector to remain hermetically sealed, maintaining a dry and clean internal environment while preventing thermal stress on the glazing. Although experimental validation is still required, the proposed concept shows promising potential for enhancing the long-term performance, reliability, and durability of flat solar collectors in diverse climates. |
