It summarises the gallows (their construction and materials used), the execution site, which also doubles as the burial place for the executed criminals and those who committed suicide. These deceased, who were excluded from the Christian cemetery, were buried here often without any care: they were thrown in various anatomical positions and orientations. That’s why this article also refers to the related issue of the interpretation of the medieval and modern atypical burials. |
