Summary:The Mexican women who work in El Rocio are determined to help their children to develop themselves academically in order to fmd employment outside of agriculture. Their narratives describe problems of health such as arthritis, bronchitis^ allergies,etc.; abuses by racist bosses, low salaries, unstable employment and chronic poverty. They are strong, self-sufficient and empowered to conduct their lives. Their commentaries on the extent of their contributions are based on the perspective of a critical pedagogy.
