Summary: | What do anticipation and science fiction make to the contemporary dance? Today, rare are the dance shows that are inspired by science fiction, a phenomenon we could explain by the minoritisation of fiction on current choreographic scenes, except the classical repertoire’s great ballets. In this paper, we aim to analyse some notable exceptions: ROBOT (2012) by Blanca Li, Théâtre des opérations (2013) by the Compagnie Dernière Minute, and Kromos, by the French choreographers Julien Andujar and Audrey Bodiguel (2018). In light of these three scenic works, we’ll wonder to what extend science fiction and anticipation stimulate the invention of brand new bodies, by the subversion of human being’s relation to gravity or bipedalism (extraterrestrial corporeities), or by the hybridisation of human bodies dealing with machines (cyber corporeities). |
